A HANDFUL OF SUNSHINE

Handful of Sunshine

Johnny was a little boy who spent his time in bed,
when asked what he would like to do
this is what he said,
"Let's play this room is but a store, where folks come in to buy."
"What would you like? They asked of him.
He answered with a smile,

"I'll take a handful of sunshine and lock it in my heart
lock it in my heart,
to scare away the dark,
I'll buy some smiles to give away,
but I will never part
with that handful of sunshine in my heart.

A little girl across the room said she would like to play,
the nurse became a busy clerk
took orders all the day,
one bought toys and jet airplanes and dolls
and things like that. But all insisted that she put
Sunshine in every hat.
